Understanding Dental Implants
Dental implants are ideal for patients with one or more missing or damaged teeth.
- Implants are replacement tooth roots that provide you with the same comfort and functionality as your own teeth. You can chew, smile, and care for them as though they were natural teeth.
- Dental implants offer an immediate fix. You will never have a transition period during which you will have to go out in public with a missing or damaged tooth.
- During the procedure, Doctor Krueger places the implant below the gumline and attaches a temporary crown to it. Over time, the dental implant integrates with the bone in your jaw, adding strength and durability.
- A follow-up procedure by your restorative dentist attaches a permanent crown to the implant, completing the process.
Why Get Dental Implants?
Patients choose to replace missing or damaged teeth with dental implants for the variety of benefits they offer. One of the most important is to prevent bone resorption.
When teeth are missing or damaged, the bone that previously supported them deteriorates. Resorption can cause the patient’s face to appear collapsed, and can form wrinkles around the mouth. Dental implants create replacement tooth roots that can prevent this by maintaining bone support.
Implants also….
- Enhance your smile by replacing missing or damaged teeth
- Establish a strong foundation for biting and chewing, which can also improve nutrition
- Offer you a natural-looking, complete smile with no missing teeth
- Prevent the damage that can be caused to adjacent teeth by other tooth-replacement options
Overall, dental implants provide a solution that is equal to or better than the look, feel and function of your natural teeth.
Are Dental Implants Affordable?
Many patients that come into KRK’s practice are under the misconception that dental implants are costly. After seeing so many ads for discount dental implants, even affordable dental implants can seem out of your price range.
Placing dental implants is not a simple procedure, and requires knowledge and understanding of the right angles and technique. If these issues are not addressed, patients can run into several problems related to dental implant failure related to infection. By selecting an experienced dental implant specialist, you can avoid potential problems related to your dental implants and ultimately save money.
Another issue with choosing bargain basement dental implants is that not all costs are included. When you go in for a consultation, there are several additional procedures tacked on so the price is rarely as advertised. And even if it is slightly cheaper, it is not really affordable because you are risking implant failure, which is challenging and very costly to repair.
Your Dental Implant Experience with KRK Implant Center
Initial Consultation: We will get to know you and share information about treatment. Our goal is to make you feel comfortable with the process and help you make an informed decision. Patients with dental problems requiring immediate care can often receive treatment the same day.
Planning: Doctor Krueger will talk with you about scheduling and options for your treatment. Dental implant patients can choose to be awake, relaxed, or completely asleep for the surgery. In each case, you should not have any sensation or discomfort during treatment.
Implant Procedure: Doctor Krueger will place the dental implants during a surgery that typically lasts one-half to one hour. He will also place temporary crowns so your smile is made complete. Since implants are set into the jawbone and do not significantly impact the gums, you can expect to have no stitches and little to no swelling or bruising following the surgery.
Post-Operatively: Feeling will return to your mouth three to five hours after the procedure is completed. Doctor Krueger will prescribe medication for management of pain, but patients typically need only over-the-counter products for discomfort. Doctor Krueger will provide you his home and mobile telephone numbers so he can answer any questions you have or address any concerns. Within a couple of weeks of your procedure, you will return to our office for a post-operative checkup.
Permanent Crowns: Your dental implants should be fully integrated into your jawbone within six weeks to four months following your surgery. At this point, you will schedule an appointment with your restorative dentist, who will fit you for your permanent crowns for your implants.
